Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the questions we hear the most frequently, and we hope our answers here address some of yours! If you do not see your question here, feel free to contact us!
How and how often do you assess your students?
Students are assessed quarterly, and parents will receive individual progress reports. Meetings with the teacher are available if needed. Any behavioral concerns will be addressed on an individual basis. We will work together to create the best learning environment for your child.
How often should I expect communication from my child’s teacher?
We try our best to communicate in multiple ways to fit the needs and schedules of all our different parents and guardians. In addition to quarterly progress reports and meetings if needed, we send a weekly update and monthly newsletter that gives you a look inside the classroom and notifies you of upcoming events. Thanks to our small size, we are also available via text and email, or during pick-up and drop-off times for any timely and child-specific updates.
For any administrative matters, please contact Anna directly.
Do you provide lunches or snacks?
We do not. Please send snacks, lunch, and a water bottle with your child each day. We provide silverware, and ask that their lunch be packed in small tupperware containers. If your child’s lunch needs heating, it will be microwaved. For health reasons, we suggest you pack healthy snacks and meals, and ensure fruits are washed and peeled before sending them to school.
For summer school only, lunch and snacks are provided for an additional fee.
Can my child take naps at school?
If your child stays past 12:30 PM, they may nap at school. This also includes preschool aged children who still need a nap. Please provide clean sheets each week, which will be sent home on Friday for washing to be returned by Monday. Students nap for one hour daily. Let us know if you prefer more or less nap time.
My child still wears diapers. Is this a problem?
No, this is not a problem for children enrolled in our Nursery or Preschool programs. We understand that children develop at their own pace, and we will work with you to ensure your child’s comfort and needs are met during their time at school.
My child is sick. What do we do?
Please notify your child’s teacher if they fall ill. For the health of the other children and staff we ask that your child remains home until they are no longer contagious. Depending on the illness, we may ask that you provide a doctor's note stating they are no longer contagious and are cleared to return.
Someone new needs to pick up my child today. How do I notify you?
Please notify your child’s teacher if someone new will be picking them up. The pick-up adult must be over 18 and bring a valid ID. Please send a photo of their documentation before they arrive to pick up your child.
My child already speaks English at home. Will they still be able to learn Italian at your school?
Yes! While English is the primary language used in class, most of our students are Italian speakers. Through daily interaction and play with their peers, your child will naturally be exposed to and begin learning Italian throughout the school day.
Are afternoon lessons cancelled or refunded in case of bad weather (e.g., heavy rain)?
No. Afternoon lessons take place as scheduled, rain or shine. If a lesson is missed due to weather, our regular attendance and refund policy still applies.
